    window repair

I'm sure most of you have experienced a tilting window. My driver's window tilts and I have to pull the glass up when putting window up. So how hard is that to fix??? And I don't want to mess up the door panel so how do I get it off? Thanks for any help.

Do some searching for the window repair. SBC makes a bracket that will hopefully do the trick. I am literally on my way out the door to try and repair mine.

I guess since this thread was already started, I might as well use it.

When repairing my windows, should I have the window rolled down for easy removal, or half way up, or all the way up (wouldnt think that would make sense)

The bracket that SBC is selling will fix the tilting problem. You can remove the window and do it on a work surface, or you can just hang it in the tracks with some duct tape with it half way down and do the repair in the door, which ever way you feel comfortable with. If you use the duct tape, be sure to tape the outside in case you have tinting. While you in there, give the tracks a good cleaning and lub. bottom line is it is a good fix for this problem and worth the money

Thanks a lot. As far as taking off door panel, does it just pop off? I don't want to break anything

Piece of cake. See page 1656-1657 of the downloadable VX shop manual provided on the site and there you go! The only thing you may need if they break apart due to age is the "fir tree" holders that clip on the door panel. That is what holds the remaining door panel to the door skin. The manual gives the location where to "pop" them off but they may still come apart due to the age of the plastic.

    dougie...

pop off the cover in the tweeter pod (little part on the inside of your door by the mirror)...should be a screw then the pod pulls towards the back of the door..

pop up the window control area (black area where the grab handle is) electronic side first, then the grab handle side slides out...
there are 2 screws behing that

    the rest is clips...
but it wouldnt hurt to download the manual

Pretty sure that piece would have to be replaced, but as already stated somewhere before, the SBC window fix, widening the tracks on the front (I used a small metal prybar when the glass was out of the way), and silicone spraying the tracks might still be the best fix.

Well, on my driver's side door, there is a plastic keeper broken off or something. The window tilts all the way forward if I don't hold on to it. The glass is firmly attached to the SBC bracket, which is bolted on firmly to the metal bar, but the whole thing turns because the plastic piece doesn't have the teeth to hold it.

Aligning the regulator arm to stay under the window glass with spacers will keep the plastic tabs on track.

My problem is that one or some of the plastic tabs are missing.
