That looks like the one i saw in an LRO Mag a few years back. It's essentially a tube frame built off a Range Rover Classic frame with freelander body panels. So not truly a freelander but still would love to have it in my driveway! Oh how i miss my Series II

Yep, those axles didn't come from any Freelander...probably not off of any Rover!

They're rover axles. Probably off a range rover classic or disco I or maybe a defender. You can see the huge bolt pattern for the wheels and the diffs are both offset. IIRC the one in the mag i remember used all land rover parts still. Bleed Green!
Additionally if they did use a frame from another rover like the one i read about the rover axles would be a natural choice since they're there and bolt up.
