    Rear speaker mounting depth?

Just wondering what the max mounting depth is for rear speakers in the stock location? WWill be replacing with 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 seperates since I have a rattling blown rear pass. side speaker.

Reading through several posts some say you need shallow depth, some say no, some say nothing. Just want some idea before I order something.

i went with shallow mount 6.5s

in the first pic you can just make out the back of the magnet behind the bracket, it is probably within 1/2" of the tire well on the bottom

I wouldn't even mess with them cause those rear panels are a mo fo to put back on OMFG, there are much easier ways to get good audio without those 2 rear speakers, new kicker 3 ways for the doors and kicker tweeters where the tweeters go and subs in the back is what I did and mine sounds awesome.

Or surface mounted (box) speakers on the "b" pillars.

Jack & I have both done this.

Once you get into it, it is not that bad, just takes a day to take your time and do it right. The speakers I used were exactly the max mounting depth once you modify the brackets to fit the 6.5" because my speakers are about 1mm from touching the metal on the backside Here is my build thread:

Has anyone heard the Hifonics Zeus line of speakers? In particular I am looking at the ZXi5.2's for both the door and rears. I know back in the day Hifonics put out some high end amps but I don't know a lot about their current crop.
