Ideally, I wanted to find this type-

It was only 5" in length and we need one at least 5 3/8" long to reach the stock holes. If anyone finds a longer one like that, please let us know.

LOL, yeah, if I had a garage queen VX there'd be no rust under there.
After ten salty NE winters mine actually looks just like what it should look like under there, rust wise. It's certainly no worse than it should be. It doesn't concern me in the slightest.
Check with me after mine is still a one owner daily driver after twenty years and some of those mint condition Vehicri with driveability problems are on their sixth owner.

Hmmmmm. How 'bout y'all remove your stock bumps now and drill right thru the whole thing and add a 4" X 3/16" bolt? That way you'll never lose the rubber pieces ya have now. It's just a thought. I wonder what's holding those things in place? I checked the VX electronic parts catalog and I can't find part numbers or any mention of any type of bump stop at all. Nothing wrong with being pro-active on a potential problem, although it's not a big problem. If ya wanna use new mounting bolts, they're M10 x 1.25 x 25.

I always enjoy seeing "outside the box" solutions!

Earlier this year I checked my bump stops for the first time and saw that the rubber pieces on the lower fronts were gone. I'm assuming they were there from the start. They could have fell out years ago. They must've been glued in place. I never heard any metal on metal contact and there's no sign of any contact dings on the empty shells. Just a month ago I was on bumpy trail, the kind with big dips and holes that almost knock you outta your seat at just 10 mph. I don't think the front lower bump stops are a big deal, but I came up with a hokey home made solution, which is my way.

I got some basic stops at 1 7/8" dia and 2" high, removed the stud, and drilled thru the shell and the stop. A bolt with some nuts and washers holds it nicely in place. As I fitted it in place the clearance was only 1/4", so I sliced off the first knub. I'm not sayin' this is the best solution possible, but it was cheap and easy and I can always change it if needed. Take a look at your front lower stops and see if the rubber parts are still there.
