    thats what I trust

    [QUOTE=I got this from Amsoil:
NOACK volatility test (how much it burns off over time)

    Amsoil:5.44%
    Castrol GTX-6.77%
    Quaker State-6.97%
    Mobil 1-7.49%

In the wear scar test, mobil 1 was last as compared to the following in order from #1 to last
    Amsoil
    Pennzoil platinum
    castrol syntec
    motorcraft synthetic
    quaker state sythetic
    havoline
mobile one(over double the other brands)

    Filter efficiency:
    Amsoil-98.7%
    Premium synthetic brands, Mobil 1-80.23%
    Conventional-39.39%

And from the makers of Amsoil also comes NGK spark plugs, which we all know and love. They also do the arfilters for Injen intakes.

I would compare Amsoil to slick50. If you are okay with spending the money, go for it. I am definitely ok with it for once a year oil change, especially in my expedition.[/QUOTE]

When a company releases data and they are #1 in all catagories. Yeah I beleive that. I also have had troubles with NGK and Slick 50 is also known to cause as many issues as it purportedly solves. I notice a lot of studies do not compare to like products.

Hey Marlin - Do you know which Mobil 1 product they were comparing? I use the High Mileage 10W30 in the wife's Axiom, and the Advanced Fuel Economy 0w30 in the VX. Wonder if there's any difference in the protection between those and the normal Mobile 1...

I assume it was just mobil1 synthetic. I just got my oil changed, pepboys was doing a special, penzoil platinum full synthetic with filter for 40 bucks...I cant do it much cheaper than that myself.

just a thought for you low mileage guys... at work we use valvoline and their big promo now is that if you register you car at valvoline.com before 75,000 miles and document that you use valvoline oil every 3-4k miles they will warranty your engine for 150k, 225k or 300k depending which oil you use (regular, synth blend or full synthetic)

Most of the VX'rs change their petroleum or synthetic oils way before it is necessary anyways so probably all the top names will suffice....my 2 cents.

    Yes,i just did the registration.

However, the bull there is that you most be using the valvoline oil during 18 month before the warranty goes into effect, really bull.
    Dakar was just the begining.

IF (that's a big if) I were to change oil once a year (not gonna happen), I would still change the filter every 3K & top it off with some fresh oil.
I change every 3-4K & use Mobil One filters. IMO, the extra expense is worth it.

I prefer a product I can walk into a store and buy. Ordering online or through a "local distributor" working out of his house isn't confidence inspiring. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the products suck.
In my area, Amsoil is available in Fleet Farm, & several NAPA stores...

Quick search on both their websites didn't find anything. Maybe your FF and NAPA franchise owners are making a little $$$ on the side?

And you're right Mav, I don't see Amsoil on either site, I guess I'm just lucky.
FF has it all, from 5w20 - 10w40, tranny juice, gear lube, LSD additive, etc...
I sure as heck aint gonna go around rattling anyone's cage to find out why it's available @ FF & NAPA...

Though I do have a Bud who is an indy distributor, I could ask him...

You can also order directly from the Amsoil website, although I'm not sure if you pay a price penalty for it...

    It's alright.
I called three times.they provide me with local distribuitors numbers, when i call NONE sells the products.
There's auto parts retail across the street of my company, when I went to inquiry their answer: No,we used to sell amsoil, but them are full of it. I give up.
