To keep our wonderful home clean and pretty, I've implemented a new script to help keep spammers at bay. Upon registration, the script checks the username, IP address, and email address against a data base of known spammer info. If any of the three have a match, the script denies the registration. If by chance one slips by, I'm still using the user moderation method ti allow me to check info. If by chance, a spammer still gets by, I can still do the same 'ol user delete with one benefit, I can then add the spammer's info to the data base. That way they can't use any of the same info to sign up again. The database is maintained and added to by this and other forum owners so as to combat the sleeze that tries to push their crap to the wonderful members of this site.
I'm hoping this works. So far, it has done a great job.. Take a look at the attachment. Without giving the details, its just an example of what was caught in less than 24 hours.
