    Farewell and 4-Wheel Burnout

After having driven my VX 130,000 miles over the past ten years, it is with great reluctance that it is replaced with a shiny new model. The good news is that it will stay in the family, and will always be available to me. My 17 y/o daughter was just 7 when I got it. She & I have made 3 trips to Moab, driven across the Imperial Sand dunes in SoCal, and retraced the Baja 1000, among many closer-to-home adventures. Needless to say, she grew up in in the VX, and loves it as much as I do, so it's hers now.

Just before I replaced the nearly 50,000 miles-old BFG ATs for her, we tethered it to a post and did a 4-wheel burnout for the fun of it. Once tires start spinning, it takes very little throttle to maintain spin. It was an interesting exercise.

So what was the VX replaced with? A 556 BHP Jag XFR & BMW M5 eater, known as the "Most powerful V8 production sedan ever made made", Cadillac CTS-V

Glad to see the VX staying in your family. I hope she gets as many years and fun times as you've had. Something is preventing any of the pictures from showing ... I want to see the burnout!!! I hope you got her new tires before turning over the keys.

    Crotchrocket, you are misinformed: http://www.caranddriver.com/news/car..._ring-car_news

Also, take a look at the cover story in the December Car & Driver, now on newsstands.

Mark, I'll see if I can dig up that old pic.

No GM apologist here, but ungfortunately that's a knee jerk statement. I've yet to see one magazine or head-to-head show that an M5 give quicker lap times on any track. And funny, enough, it ain't the straightaways whjere the CTS-V is lapping it. Yeah, I took my jaw off the floor too.

    Thumbs up

Hate to see you go, like everyone has said, at least it's in the family.
    Peace.

Congrats! A friend of mine has had that CTS for a while now and loves it. It really moves! Would love to be able to see the missing pics as well...

if your desperate and can be bothered too do so just right click the red X, got to properties and copy and paste the image location into your web browser..... and if your feeling really generous copy the pics to a photobucket account and paste them here

Nice, crotchrocket, make me feel dumb! Jamas' method resulted in dead links - ACCESS DENIED! The burnout shot is cool though!

Rick, there is no way your daughter can be 17 already!
I think the crew here would love to see the photo of her sitting behind the wheel of "her" VX at age seven. Do you still have that photo?

Bax, you know "they" are just going to tell you that Car & Driver is paid by GM and other auto companies to alter the truth because they advertise with them. I have always read though, the CTS-V smokes the lot of them.
