Some of the rally racing Vx's have manual transmissions, but they are so highly modified that it would be hard to work out where to stop.
Also, I don't know if they managed to keep the TOD function, or not.
It has been discussed here before - search for manual transmission or gearbox.

Once someone does it and posts results, I am sure others will follow.

OK, I have a question on this topic. Being a new owner I had checked the shifting of the tranny to see how it shifted and I counted 4 shifts by watching the tach - 1st gear SHIFT 2nd gear SHIFT 3rd gear SHIFT 4th gear SHIFT and then ??? 5th ??? What would this final shift be????

I would say that's torque converter lockup.

Here's the torque converter lock-up speeds.

    And the whole shift pattern.

Sounds good to me - I am also new to the 4x4 drive so learning every day.

How do you turn "Lock up" on and off? I found the Power button but have never used it.

I don't fully understand it. I think it's all automatic. Basically the lock-up is on when you reach a cruising speed condition. It's off during hard acceleration or when slowing down.

The application of the lock-up clutch locks the turbine to the pump, causing all power transmission to be mechanical, eliminating losses that come with a fluid drive. I guess that's why we see the rpm's drop. It's no longer a 100% fluid connection and there is no loss associated with a fluid drive and we cruise at the same speed, but need less rpm's and gas to maintain that speed.

I think it's possible to install a switch to turn the lock-up on/off.

OK kinda understand what you are saying. Mine drops at about 2400 rpm. I think these engines could run with a 5 speed with no notice of power loss. I would think it would be mainlly for hwy. My honda has a 4 cyc. and it runs with less rpm's in top gear and still seem to have plenty of power when needed not to mention it can always down shift. With a 5 speed I would think we might see a little better mpg.

You'll be able to find even more on the subject by using the search function, with "clutch pedal" as your search criteria.
