    VehiCROSS badge exchange

So I have new VehiCROSS badges for the pillar behind the doors. Local bodyshop guy wants $150 to do the swap.

Really like to know if anyone has done this and what it really takes. Lots of you have debadged, but who has reinstalled these. I also need to do one of the 3.5L emblems. Also, do I need to do all of the lettering, or can I do just the ones that are peeling?

    Thanks for the help.

Mine were gone when I got mine so I can't help.

I know etlsport removed his without any damage (he loaned me the removed badges to get some copies made at jetskidetailing.com

I remember a thread on how to install window decals. I'll let you know if I can find it.

This is the thread but it's for installing on glass but should work on the body too:

honestly, i would make yourself some really really straight and level lines on the side of your car with masking tape and just go for it... just make sure the car is really clean and you will be just fine

When I debadged my two VXs there remained some adhesive residue that required extra work to remove. Also there was a lighter kinda shadow of the outline of the badges particularly on the ISUZU badge on the back door that remained. Both my VXs are black. You could see this discoloration under certain light conditions and at certain viewing angles. I had both vehicles professionally detailed and the waxing & buffing process removed that.

You might want to really clean up that area before applying the new badges. I removed the badges myself just using my finger nails and patience. You could do it yourself. They're flexible plastic and can be removed almost intact if you pull using slow, steady pressure and in warm weather or better yet in direct, hot sun light.

Applying the new badges should be easy if you make accurate measurements from the original badge positions and use reference points along the body. Application is a peel and stick-on process.

I never really liked the design of the side badges. They had a dated and somewhat corny graphical look to me and the ISUZU badge on the back was just way to big and horsey looking. I like the stealth look of only the grille emblem which I have replaced with just "VX" in brushed stainless steel that I had custom made and clear coated. I get more and longer curious looks from people trying to identify the vehicle. I have seen numerous people mouthing "VX" as they come around the front and see the grille. I've also made custom magnetic side badges that I position at the rear of the front fenders tucked in just above the fender flares and just forward of the door. It has an Isuzu logo, VEHICROSS and the last 4 digits of the vin numbers. I'll take some pics, they might be of interest, when I have a chance to get all the snow, ice and dirt off of it. It's still very much of a cold, snowy and messy winter wonderland around here.

So it was warm and sunny in CO today and I took the plunge and completed this.

Changed out the two B-pillar emblems and one of the 3.5L.

I was going to change out only the ones that were peeling, but I was surprised at how the others, thought still very silver, had lost all of their "chrome" shine. I ended up taking them entirely off and putting the new ones on.

Thanks for the help and encouragement. It looks great and I didn't have to pay the bodyshop a penny!
