    Arrow We gots the hoarfrost...AGAIN...

From the local paper...never heard that term before...

    http://www.inforum.com/dynamic/full/...lone-frost.jpg
The statue of 19th-century Norwegian writer and poet Henrik Wergeland stands near a grove of frost-covered trees Tuesday in Fargo?s Island Park. High humidity, falling temperatures and calm winds have allowed the hoarfrost to accumulate to unusual levels. Hoarfrost gets the first part of its name from hoar, a gray-white color often associated with things that age.

Wonner if I'm gonna turn a gray-white soon...

    Obviously not.

If you are not old enough to be aware of the term, then you have a long way to go to get the "hoar-ish" look.

    Or is that spelt differently?????

I have heard the terminology, but never actually seen one on the ground.

Hope your winter woolies are holding up OK.

I've seen it on rare occasions. If the ground gets saturated like it often does in VA because of the clay, then the air temp drops suddenly (& drastically), the moisture in the ground hits the cold air & makes real purdy ice crystals all over the grass. Kinda makes the top layer of soil look like a frozen tar pit as well.

BTW - NOT the best conditions for 4wheeling. That's how you end up frame deep in muck (voice of experience).

That looks a lot like the stuff they called "snog" in Spokane (Fairchild Airforce Base). It would make little spikes, perpindicular to everything. I was told it was caused by them seeding the clouds with something to disipate the fog, so their jets could fly. I remember my car all white and fuzzy, but the best part was my antenna would be about 1" diameter with little ice spikes.
If you don't first THINK THINK, you could end up in deep DO DO!
