I think I finally may have found car good enough to put next to the VX. The Local Motors Rally Fighter.
Too bad it costs about $50k, travel to Mass, and a few weekends of time. Still, it looks like it would turn some heads.

I've wanted one since I first saw them! It'd be a sweet little ride.

Had a previous discussion about them here.

Absolutely the best $20 you'll spend per year on your VX.

I know, I've been coveting one for a while too--it's too badass for words. Today one of my passengers tried to convince me that the accessory the VX is really missing is a roof-mounted minigun to deal with obstacles that can't be climbed over, like deer.
I'd give both
that thing is BADA$$!!!!

Obviously they are building this as a pure performer, but just to call the dude out on the design he was obviously inspired my my favorite car that DIDNT get made, the Toyota RSC:

If someone would build that design on a performance chassis I think I actually WOULD give a nut for it.

Looks like a sporty BMW X6

Agreed. That this is wicked!

Damnit. I searched for the URL, but nothing came up. Thanks for digging that up.
Yeah, it is pretty obvious that they cherry-picked the features from a number of vehicles out there --both production and drawing-board. If you poke around on the designer's page, he looked at a lot of BMW hardware, too. On the other hand, in the thread that Knivx mentioned, they called it a 70s AMC Eagle with fewer driven wheels and a nice paint job.
Yeah, that's sadly true, I guess. But it just seems that there aren't many vehicles you can actually buy that manage to both have unique looks and a bad-*** attitude[1]. Those were the things that appealed to me, first with the GC6 Impreza and later with the VX. Since then, the population of Subarus exploded in Colorado, and it has lost its uniqueness. There are quite a few VX in Colorado, but I can probably count them all on one hand.
So I'm not dropping money on the Rally Fighter... but I'd still love to have one.
[1] Take the Aztek...please. It was different. But not bad-***.
Nice gas-cap. Its weird there are practically no pictures of the interior.
Also, I can't believe the thing is 'community designed' when the only thing resembling a community that I can find is those uber-painful forums on their website, which are practically empty. If those guys were smart, they would push to get one of their vehicles in the new Mad Max movie that's currently in production.
LOL, I can already hear Bart's pained moans of anguish as we speak. If those guys were smart, they would push to get one of their vehicles in the new Mad Max movie that's currently in production.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on me.
No thanks, I can't believe there is no 4wd option.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
