Hey guys,
Finally got the engine out of my VX, and what a chore it was! Here is how it started:
A few days and many hours later (yes that is my bald head):
Then hoisted high like a prized kill:
I was surprised at the amount of fluids rolling out of the engine "after everything was drained":
Anybody need a backup transmission?
Wonder which one was causing the knock huh? Which one of these is not like the others?
Valves looked good though, impact was on the head:
On the bottom side. Hey that doesn't look right!
Bearing was flattening and flairing. Here are some close ups of the difference between the bad bearing and a good one:
Hear is what that bearing did to the crankshaft (notice the lip of the race is ground off). I doubt that can be repaired.
Anybody need a used engine block?
The cylinder walls looked really good for a vehicle with 120k miles on it.
