License plate delete cracking! Can I fix it?

Odd question but I recently bought a front license plate delete cover from a fellow forum member, I put it on the car and the next day I came back to a crumbly mess around one of the screws. I guess the AZ sun demolished it? Now there is a crack in the cover from one screw-hole up to the top. Has anyone had this problem before? If so is there any sealent or glue that worked for you? Thank you!

i've heard of a few of them crumbling like that before, not sure if anyone has fixed one. I was at autozone yesterday and saw a 2 part epoxy meant for bumpers and flexible trim, i would give that stuff a shot.

I'm currently trying to mold mine so that I can make a fiberglass replacement, we will see how that goes.

I had mine split over the winter. It developed a vertical crack running straight through the passenger side screw hole. I went to Lowe's and purchased a thin sheet of aluminum that is normally used as a kick plate for a door. I cut out a piece of aluminum and epoxyed it to the back side of the License plate delete. I then drilled out the two holes for the screws to go through. I will try to post some picks up later and see if I can find the epoxy that I used. It has held up for the last 4 months with no problems. It seems that the rubber they made those things out of just oxidizes and crumbles over time.

They are about as rare as the roof cross bars. I got one with the replacement bumper cladding last year but sold it to another member (VA requires front tags).

I doubt you'll find one new but it is a pretty simple shape so someone should be able to mold them for us ... if we can find one in good shape to make the mold.
