I don't think Elvis Costello, The Pretenders, Blondie, The B-52s, or the Talking Heads qualify as "bashing your hand on an instrument"...although the Sex Pistols and Ramones do...my tastes these days are much more eclectic, but I do occasionally like to bang my head and jump around.
I like his show "Spectacle" on Sundance, although he tends to sing OVER his guests.
