Alright, so I am new to the VX forum. I am on my 2nd VX and haven't gotten to know anyone else that has one. I am thinking that the Moab meet would be a great adventure! Are there any other VX going from Minneapolis?

I understand that stock VX would be able to hold its own, but I have 913s on the way. Are there any other recommendations for a first timer to Moab?

    Welcome to the obsession.

Big Swede hails from the cities, & is a dude of sterling character...

These threads will get you started, & give you some idea of what those that have gone before do to gear up for the pilgrimage to "mecca"...

A completely stock VehiCROSS can take on most of what we usually encounter on the trails in Moab. Check the links Ldub provided, and get yourself a CB & a full sized spare.

I have convoyed out to Moab a few times with BigSwede and always like to add another VX to the road trip, so PM me with your plans & we'll make it happen!

just a couple ideas, i wouldnt mind checking out-

    Top of the world
    Gold Bar Rim
    Fins and Things
Elephant Hill would be cool, but its a drive and I think you have to pay park entrance.
Dome Plateau is an incredible trail, but you definately 'earn' some moab pin stripes there, so I know some of our family with the more 'pretty' VX's wouldnt like that much.
I vote for Gold Bar Rim. Or Top of the World with Rose Garden Hill

Yeah, the stock VXs should be just fine on that offshoot trail..........um...NOT! I heard about the huge boulders and stuff like that from Lisa....and let's see, ya'll finally got back around 1100pm or so??
Have fun!! Yer on yer own!

And ya gotta remember Travis, you and your VX have those special powers, kind of like Spidy where you can climb anything, with bald tires...the new VXers may not have heard about that!

Hey you're still listed as a "Maybe" on the list, are you a "Yes" now?
    Gotta have my drivin' buddy!

    ....and the Moab excitement builds!!!!

Yeah I had to take a Xanax before driving down, I had no skid plates that year, not even the tod, so I was nervous! But I vot for it because it was fun and since we will be abusing Greg's vx again this year!

Ya, sure, ya betcha! It'd be great to do Top of the World and skip the Rose Garden part. Head back for libations on the stoop!

I don't know how much my opinion really matters since I may or may not be able to make it to Moab this year, but I wouldn't go for Gold Bar Rim if there are any stock VXers; I went on that one last year and had a small panic attack when I got to the waterfall obstacle. Ended up parking my girl on the side of the trail, and rode with Dave for the rest of the way. Not a real friendly trail for the novice (or for those prone to anxiety and without any meds on board, lol). Fins and Things went just fine though, and I have no opinion on the others, as I haven't been on them...yet.

...personally, I would take on Gold Bar Rim again though. Need to win my woman card back from the trail that robbed me of it
