I drove an 89 Isuzu Impulse Turbo Today...

...and now it has been added to my list of future vehicles to own, when I find a nice enough one for the right price.

These little Turbo 4-bangers are FAST and UBER-80s. I want one for sure.

Why is it that everything I want to do costs thousands of dollars, makes the wife angry, takes up loads of space and too much of my time?

That's why I'm single my friend - not by choice but by passion! Whatever that means... that's why I rarely finish anything - too many toys out there to be had! Why did I ever think one woman or one 4x4 would be enough...?

I dunno, one woman is CERTAINLY enough. But one vehicle is not even close.

A guy had one for sale near me for like $2K... very bad *** little car, only downside (depending on your perspective) was that he had it painted in a stars and stripes motif (a la Corvettes and other AMERICAN muscle cars). I thought about stopping by to drive it but never got around to it. Sounds like I missed out...

Yeah, I'm dead set on an 87/88/89 Turbo, if I can find one. I'll be waiting for someone like this to sells there.

Way cool car! Back in my Los Angeles long commuting days of the 80s, I carpooled with a co-worker who had one. She was a much older woman and her hubby had one too, his was like that gun metal/taupe color and hers was bright red. Quite sure she didn't know what a turbo was....her hubby just picked it for her after he got his. Sadly, don't think we ever got much above about 20 mph during that entire 37 mile commute each way (Long Beach to Santa Monica)..
Would have loved to have driven it!

While it's no Impulse, I'm currently restoring an '85 SVO Mustang. It's one of the reason's I'm selling the Mach 1, which will also pay for the VX I want!

Just thought it was a little related since mine's a 4 cylinder turbo too! And they are super light weight and handle amazingly compared to a heavy new edge mustang. Makes driving a ton of fun.

Yeah, just look at it! It is pretty much the epitomy of 80s sports car styling, right there. It really is the poor man's DeLorean. I love the thin head lights.
