all the cars i listed, i currently own. The rabbit P-U, was always the gas model (1.6)...it was converted last year with a 1988 (1.9,fuel injected) jetta with 5 speed...although some 81's came with the 5 speed this one originally had a four speed....i love it...peppy little bugger..... the real mind blower is to be the samurai which is scheduled for the 1.9 vw turbo diesel conversion..when the well running 1.3 suzuki dies

Those are some GREAT cars, I strongly considered a Crossfire a few years ago but ended up buying a G35 coupe. A heavy factor in that decision was that I didn't want to settle for anything besides the SRT6, but it was MUCHO dinero considering my pay at the time.

    And nice photochop too btw.

Thanks, but you probably made a more practical choice. Yeah, I had to laugh at some of the guys on the Crossfire forum for giving me a hard time for wanting a standard tranny instead of the only available automatic for the SRT6. I've always had an issue with automatics in a sports car, so I thought Rat Fink shifting my SRT was appropriate....

Yeah, I can't wait for top down weather. It's been up on blocks while I replaced the clutch slave cylinder. Bit of a chore as it is on the input shaft of the transmission.

Ooohhh... love that TR4. And I agree that an automatic tranny has no place in a sports car.

As for other cars in the household at the moment...

    05 Ford Ranger 4WD
04 MB C230 Coupe (Kompressor). Stick, of course.
89 Alfa Romeo (Graduate edition). Yes, it runs.

    coming soon... 2000 VX Dragon

the boxster has a tiptronic transmission...basically both automatic and manual....when in manual mode it shifts with a finger from either side of the steering wheel ...its the fastest and smoothest shifting ive ever experienced ....love that car...it rides the road li8ke its on rails.........before i bought it id asked alot of questions...and everyone swore by the tiptronic over the straight manual...its my first tiptronic, I too swear by it now

Well, I have never actually driven a Boxster, but I did take a "test ride" in one. I admit, the shifting seemed pretty spirited. I could make an exception for that one, I think. The real performance cars probably have done a decent job designing an automatic transmission. And even I will admit there are days in freeway traffic when that shifting gets old. But I also tried to get the hang of manually shifting the Pacifica that the hubby had as a company car. Ugh. Especially up and down mountain roads. I swear you could make a sandwich between the time you shifted and the time it actually changed gears.

We had the paddle shifters in hubby's BMW M3..."spirited" shifting/driving is an understatement... .....
I had an Audi S4 6 spd, twin turbo....Dave still beat me..he had more horses and those wicked quick paddle shifts .....man those were some fun rides!
