Hampton Roads / Anybody Else That Wants to Come Meet - Sep 5 1200-???

Looking to throw a little VX meet together for this coming Sunday (a week from today) at my house in Newport News, VA. I'll send out exact directions by PM/email later this week to those who confirm. Figure we can start around 1200 and go until we have nothing left to talk about (or we all have to go back to work on Tuesday). I'll be grillin' up some hot dogs and hamburgers, just bring the beverage of your choice!

I've already talked to several people in the Hampton Roads area who are down, but anyone else who wants to drive up/down is more than welcome to come. Maybe we could get some DC/NOVA/MD people to drive a couple hours down for the afternoon?

Ya know ... it may have been a little better event if you hadn't invited the hurricane. Weather reports right now indicate the whole weekend is a total washout.

Bah, depends on what website you look at. The projections I've seen show us on the western edge of the track, with rain most likely on Thursday/Friday. Just pour some soap over the top of your VX Thursday night and you should be spick and span by Sunday.

BTW, SomeBeach had to bow out of the mini meet. His wife reminded him of an earlier commitment.

Tom just IMed me, and I'm up for a road trip. Haven't been out of Virginia since... Oh, yeah, I went to Atlantic City last Saturday!

Maybe my Proton won't look so good after the rain passes through.

I picked up some tow hooks from Northern Tool. I need to get them mounted before Sunday (Don't wanna be the only hook chalenged VX there).

Just posted pics from today's meet in my gallery but I'll repeat them below. Absolutely beautiful weather, good food, and great VX family fellowship. Thanks especially to Greg and Tom who drove several hours to come down for the afternoon, and thanks to our wives/girlfriends, who gracefully tolerate our mutual obsession.











Look closely in the background - we were unsure whether Tom was posing his VX for a pic or testing whether the OFH could float.









Should be a ton more pics on the way; virtualruffy's wife took a bunch with her professional-grade camera, and Tom took a ton with his digital camera as well. Hopefully they can get the pics up soon! Thanks again to everyone!
