    Question New Shock Advice?

Hello! I'm looking for some advice concerning shocks. I'm thinking it's probably about time to change mine. I have 101,000 miles on my 99 Ironman with the original shocks. I don't do any offroad driving. I have 18" Enkei Chrome w/ Nitto 404 tires. I've read in the posts that the stock shocks are a bit pricy.

    I'd like to know:

    1) What do people feel are good replacement shocks? I'm looking to spend under $100 a corner, if possible.

    2) Are they too difficult to replace at home? I'm hardly a mechanic, but I have managed to change the oil, fluids and spark plugs as well as install a new head unit / XM radio without blowing up anything too badly. I do have a floor jack and some stands, as well as a torque wrench.

    Thanks much!

WOW! That's pretty high mileage! Glad to see the VX getting out and being driven!

You will find a LOT of info using the search feature. This board is pretty much saturated with info, so anything anyone can (or will) post regarding this subject has been posted at least twice before. I will say Rancho will bring a lot of hits!

Rancho 9000's are the way I'd suggest. Just put these on mine recently, and am loving the adjutability of them. Do a search as they did have a special for by 3 get on free. Sam's offroad was the place running the special. Great folks to work with too, as I messed the top of one up and they promptly sent a new one out to me.

For those of you who just have one bad, or would like some stock back-up shocks, I have three (one front, both rear) with 50,000 miles on them. Make me an offer, and keep in mind the cost of shipping depending on your location....... also remember these retail new for about $600 each!!!!!

While I'm at it I also have a rear-passenger side piece of cladding that has been repaired. Just needs some kind of paint on it and it's ready to go......make offer also. I'm not married to any of it and would like to get it all out of the garage!!!!

Not that you'd want to pay this much per shock, but Fox makes some nice arse shat! They make nice stuff for motorbikes and mountainbikes as well.
