    Question shift knob-will this work

ok so i found the shift knobs i like and i see other members have them

    http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/sh...papass=&sort=4

    and

    http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/sh...papass=&sort=4

but if there is no button what prevents someone from bumping the vx in to reverse while goin 60 mph down the road ( which would destroy the vixen), i'm lost.

Those RAZO knobs are made for an Auto Tranny (at least for the AT knob is, the one for the 4W is made for a MT). The AT RAZO doesn't have a button, but the whole knob has to be pressed down to disengage for shifting (it slides up and down on the shaft).

Ok, I must have a dirty mind cause your last statment sounded very sexual in nature

Anyway, I have both knobs and havn't installed yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to either. I bought mine a few days before I got my vx and now that I look at it the stock shifters dont really look bad and they at least give a consistency in form/design with the rest of the dash.

johnnyapollo is right, you have to push down on the auto shifter to change gears.

yeah I've got those in my VX... SCUDD put 'em in sometime prior to my purchase. he gave me all the old hardware as well, and after looking at the original stuff, no way.

i like the whole carbon fiber look, and as for shifting, like everyone else said you just push down.

odd, though... most cars stop at D when pulling the gear selector down - my VX goes all the way to 3rd and stops. anyone else's do this? is there a reason?
    Do they ever stop looking?

Only reason I can think of is that they don't want you to use overdrive gear (4) for in town driving.

Most Razo shifters work fine. You may or may not need to remove the welded on square tubing that houses the shaft, but that is a piece of cake. I replaced both of mine with Razos and I love them.

    Question Help!

Anybody know if this shifter will work in the VX?

    http://www.obxracingsports.com/inter...2&subCat2ID=22

I really like the carbon/red one but it says:

"OBX Tomcat Shift Knob automatic transmission-designed to fit most cars with Overdrive Transmission such as Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi etc."

I know the VX is considered a 4-speed Automatic..but will this shifter work or not???

It is actually cheaper at this site:

It looks like a knock-off of a RAZO shifter, which I know some others on the board have installed (thinking about going with the RAZO myself). It should work fine. If it has an overdrive button, you simply won't use it.

Or at least, not for it's intended purpose.
