Picked this up at Lowes. It rotates up/down, can be removed (hand held), or turned lenghtwise. It has 4 very bright LEDs and is made of brushed aluminum. $13 and 5 minutes to install...

Wired in or batteries?
Good point. Didn't see the 5 min part. Looks really good though.
Does it come in black?
No, but spray paint does!
The base on mine was actually white...some lite sanding and a bit of flat black and it is no longer white.
And to the ? above...battery powered. Should last a long time though from past experience with LED's and batteries.
Ah thinks its P-U-R-D-Y......
I might have to copy you on this one. I could see it either console, near the rear view or under-hood mounted as well. Some members have mounted a wind-up dome light from a Suburban. Personally, with as bright as the new LED's are, and they are so efficient, I'd rather go with wireless, and I like the look of this. Most flashlights used to be battery hogs, were not that bright and worked finicky. Now there is great, bright, battery efficient LED's that are reasonably priced as well. It's a cool little lightbar, and looks like a nice fixture, rather than just a flashlight, plus it is aim-able. Nice find.

Actually, he said it was made of brushed aluminum. Plus it has a mount that either allows it to be aimed, or it can be removed. I'm guessing with the multiple LED's, that it is probably brighter than a mini-mag. Just a cool little cheap mod, a nice finishing touch.
I thought the mount looked like plastic... but maybe it's all aluminum. In any event, nice mod, definitely not dogging it at all, just trying to think through the applications.
Base/mount is plastic...the “wand“ is metal with plastic end pieces. Not sure it would do well under the hood.
Tested it out last night after the sun went down...it lights the back up very nicely. And as an added bonus if you turn it to the front it makes a great reading/map light for the rear passangers/navigators!
