    Kinda crappy emission warranty

I was under the impression that there was some kind of federal emission warranty law stating that all emission-related components had to be covered for at least 5 years. After consulting the Isuzu manual, I found out otherwise.

If you have a defective emission component replaced within the first 2 years or 24K miles, that replacement part is warranteed for 8 years/ 80K miles.

The only items covered for 8/ 80 are the cat and PCM. All other emission is 2/24.

regardless of what the manual says - I think that emissions parts HAVE to be covered (per law) for 50,000 miles or 5 years. I used to be in the rental/leasing business, and this was the law - don't tink it has changed - press your dealer!!!!!

Bummer, my VX has 55k on the odometer

After calling St-Charles Isuzu for a quote on the EGR valve, I realized that this part is a common problem among Isuzu vehicles. The sale guy told me that is often backorder. So I believe that there was a real problem with the part.

I picked up the VX yesterday. I have to say that I did feel a difference when I drove it off. It sounds much better now. Before, there was a little metal sound when the engine was shifting. It's hard to describe but it was similar to an old beetle engine sound... just a little.

I tested the VX uphill and kicked down and the check engine light didn't come back. It seems that they did the job right this time.

The only one thing that really annoys me about this whole event is: The service guy strongly recommends flushing the injectors every 20k (for $150). He keeps nagging me with this service but the dealer has no flyers or documentation that mention it on paper! I never heard about this on vehicross.info either.

    Thanks!

    EGR Valve sticking

EGR valve sticking is a common problem from what I have read on other boards. I guess the carbon build up cloggs the valve and prevents it from moving properly. Had this happen on my 01 Rodeo Sport. I took off the egr valve and spayed the inside with some carburator cleaner to wash out some of that build up (dealer recommended on som other post). Didnt see anything come out, but the checkengine light dissappeared (had the High voltage egr code) and no more stalling on red lights.

P.S. If you do this, make sure to wait a while after driving, the egr valve stays hot for a long time.

Thumbs up DeerMagnet is the man!

I fixed the problem with the help of DeerMagnet!

The problem was the MAF sensor. I ordered the part from ST Charles Isuzu Friday and I changed it Tuesday. Within 10 minutes, the check engine light mystery was solved.

    Yooohooo!

    Thanks Mark!

    Same problem

I had the same problem only I ended up getting a new throttle body with it. If you still have problems just have them check it out

    Same problem here

I just had the same problem. They replaced some egr gaskets egr tube and did a cleaning service on the throtle body. The labor total was 71.00 and the parts were around 170.00 It was all covered under warranty. So Id find another dealer.
