    Installing SBC Brackets

I am getting ready to install the SBC bracket. What glue do I use to hold the glass in place. I saw where someone used liquid nails and another used industrial hot glue?? Does anyone have a suggestion as to which glue to use?

I used two part quick set epoxy.

I liked the black RTV route too. Plenty strong enough but easier to work with than the hard cure stuff & can be re-worked if need be.

Read instructions carefully though. Many marine grade adhesives are UV cured. If you put some of that on yer winder brackets, it may never cure. I learnt that the hard way on another project.

If it was PC-11 that you used, it is NOT UV cured.

What is the website to purchase SBC Brackets? Will be doing that before winter is over. To anyone who did this, did you also have to replace your window motor at the same time, or did your windows start working with these pieces alone?

For a bonding agent I went by a local auto glass company and asked what they used. Had a nice conversation with the guys there explaining what I was doing and ended up with them giving me an opened tube of the bonding agent they used. Even gave me a hand full of tips to use.

What did you use? Also, were these brackets a great improvement for you?

It was some sort of a glass glue that had the consistency of tar and looked like it. The brackets were a help however if you have play in your window track, the piece that the bracket attaches to, you will still have some rock to the window. I've seen where some folks, LDub I think, had enlarged the openings of the window track to give it a bit of an angle to off set the play in the regulator.

I'd think you'd need more than epoxy to mount a small block cheby (SBC)!!!
