This rain sucks! Everytime I want to work on something it's raining. Yeah I could pull it in the garage but it's depressing lol. So she's about to hit the road huh? Awesome!!! Finish the paint yet? How's she running?

I'm hoping to come home with this soon, crossing fingers:
Nice lookin Trooper.
The SVO runs good, but I have a probelm with boost. It keeps climbing out of control. Got the wastegate from Stinger who builds TONS of parts for these cars, as well as the manual boost controller. I can't figure it out. I don't think I've got the lines run wrong, but I haven't tested the wastegate yet either (been a little lazy with that). Other than that it's great. The paint isn't finished, just rattle can flat black primer while I try to figure out how to smooth out the door handles. I may have to sand down and re apply bondo, didn't do so great a job on the first try.
interesting. Should have 3 ports on the gate right? One to manifold vacuum/boost, one to the controller and one from the controller. How high is it climbing? Glad to hear it's running good other than that and black primer is always a good color!
Have you thought about using some fiberglass on the handles? Did you weld in a plate? Got any new pics!!
Thanks on the Trooper, I'm hoping I can get it from him, we'll see. Got an Eaton M90 and a teralow tcase lined up for it if I do
I should have welded in a plate, but I don't have a welder... so I found some stuff from Autozone that is a super thing expanded metal thingy that I epoxied to the back side of the hole and smeared bondo over the front. It's smooth to the touch, but there is a major color difference between that and the rest of the car.
and an eaton? That old motor can handle any amount of boost?
I'd be rebuilding it, the motor is gone in it so hoping to get it fairly cheap. Throw some pistons in it from a 93+ 2.6L and a new pre 93 head and it'd drop compression to about 7.5-8:1. slap some arp rod bolts and head studs and it should handle a decent bit, nothing crazy. Alot of guys run the Impulse turbo setups on em' without rebuilding, but ya gotta be careful with timing etc.
I think I know the stuff your talking about, ya it's "properties" aren't the same as the metal in your door so that's why you have the color difference, it absorbs the paint differently. I've got a few friends with welders down near you if you decide to try welding a plate in.
Looks slow...
probably will be........
What do you mean "might"?
Sent from my "two hands on a keyboard"
lol that I'm discussing pricing on both items as we speak. If I hear back from the Trooper guy and he accepts my offer I won't be buying these yet but if he doesn't, they will be on there way shortly
Ahh I see. It's nice to have a back up plan when money is burning a hole in your pocket.
hahaha this is true. Can't wait to get everything set up though, gonna take awhile gathering all the little bits/pieces. Gotta get me some new injectors, a Denso Supra TT fuel pump, the rest of the piping (luckily if I get this intercooler it has all the cold side piping which will be awesome!), oil lines, oil pump, just gonna keep adding up haha
Got some more stuff in today:
HAHA good to see you're taking your sweet time with it! Any news on the Troop?
