    my engine died

Well a few weeks ago I threw a rod in my engine and it locked up and i have had problems finding a new one.I really need some help, does anyone know where i can find a low mileage engine for a good price? I'm in desperate need of one I have no way to work or school right now...

Going to be difficult to find a low-mileage used one I would think. Basically you'd be sitting around hoping someone with < 50K miles got into a rear-impact collision. Can you do any of the work yourself? Otherwise I think you have to look at higher mileage engines (possibly 100K+) or work out some sort of payment plan on a new engine.

    Sorry dude.

~Do some searching on the forum on this topic, many have gone thru this already.

~"ascinder" has one for sale right now...search and find that thread.

~Contact "phines", he just had his replaced about 5-6 months ago and did some price shopping.

Show 12 engines across the country. lists mileage on the clock too so you can take your pic.

~Since cost probably isn't a problem, contact our parts guru/contact - Merlin at St. Charles Isuzu and see if a new one is available and how much.

You know if I were you I'd try to convince your dad to buy lfranz's VX. It's the same year and color as yours and has a brand new engine in it. He wants $6K but when you think about it you're probably going to pay at least $3-4K for an engine plus installation, whereas you could buy his, put all the best parts onto yours, then part out the rest for $1K or better. Whatever you can't sell you can keep as spares so your dad (or the insurance company) don't have to pay for those parts for repair later.

It's not a direct replacement, complications are described in-depth in the threads below:

Took a Week But Axiom Motor Swap Finished

DONE!! '02 Axiom engine switch works

SouthJ1 - Read the first post in the first link, the guy says it cost him about $5200 between parts and labor to do this swap. For $800 more you could have that second VX I listed above.

Here's an engine from a '99 with 93k miles asking $1,500 or make offer!!
It's in the NW so shipping would be involved.

Myself just swapped bad engine 3.5l on 99 vx. used an 3.2 engine from 99 rodeo. got rodeo dirt cheap (accident) 3.2 fit on vx no problem. actually - vx feels lit bit bouncy ( may be 3.2l lit bit lighter than 3.5)

I am doing it right now. no wiring issue. was code 0401- but solved by cleaning pipe inside the intake.
