Doesn't the rear diff get some kind of limited slip addative in the fluid? Someone? Anyone? I ask because if the fluid is low then you will want to put in more fluid, but also add the right amount of addative to get everything to work right.

I recall when I had my shop change my diff fluids, Royal Purple diff fluid said no LSD additive was needed, as it's formula handled it.Originally Posted by MSHardeman

Well, all of that is fine and dandy if you use Royal Purple. If not, you'll need to see if the stuff you use has the addative in it, or if you need to add it.
I would hate to have a leaky rear end.You should really have that looked at.

Yes, most synthetic lubes do not need the LSD additive. Read the bottle carefully though to make sure.
If you are just topping off for a small amount of lost fluid, then there should be enough additive still in there. If it's more than about 1/2 quart needed, then I'd probably add it.
Also, some synthetic lubricant manufacturers recommend not mixing with melted dinosaurs (petroleum based). Read the bottle to make sure.
