    Finned tranny pan?

Does anyone know of a company that makes finned (for cooling) pans for our tranny's?
I will be needing to rebuild mine soon and would like to add this along with an aux trans. cooler to help it stay cool and last longer.

I am just thinking can you just weld on some fins on the original oil pan?

    Gear

I've done quite a lot of searching for ANY type of aftermarket upgrades for the 4L30E...no joy...

    4L60E?....TONS of stuff...

I did find this rebuild kit that "claims" to be a performance upgrade...

Thanks Dub...that is pretty much what I have been finding in my searches. Rebuild parts I will leave up to the rebuilder. There are quite a few special tools needed to rebuild them so I will leave it up to the "experts" when the time comes. I am going to put an external cooler on but thought the extra, extra cooling would be good.

Billy, have you had the AT high temp light come on? Mine did on the trip to Moab, on the Sunset Point hill and the hill between Sedona and Flagstaff. Didn't give me a lick of trouble on the trails though. This is the very first time the lights ever come on. I figure it's the bigger tires combined with the supercharger power increase.

Will be doing a front end job on my Dragon, just gathering up the parts. But while I'm in there, going to mount up a tran's cooler and maybe a heavier duty fan. Am contemplating a move to the southwest so want to keep things cool,... as I can.

    Lightbulb

    In theory...

This could be so crazy, it just might work.

Was just thinking about this & came up with an "outside the box" solution.

    Why not make your own?

With aluminium angle, bonded to your tranny pan, with thermal conductive epoxy...

Too much work Dub...I'll just go with a good cooler.

Kirk, yes...on the way to Show Low which caused my temp to go way north on every hill! Did not like that.

Row...where abouts in the SW you looking at?

I have a temp. gauge hooked on my ATF line, when engine rev higher, the temp seems go down more probably because of the flow is higher. but when on highway, 4th gear, put down more accelerator, rev would rev up like a downshift, but not down shift into 3rd, kinda like between 3rd and 4th. and in that gear, the trans temp. would just keep going up... once I step more on gas, it downshifts into 3rd then temp goes down almost immediately.

Not sure Billy, loved NM when I was stationed there, but have never been to Vegas, just not sure if we can take the heat. 13 years in England, and 22 here in western Washington and Sandy having lived here all her life. Sure would be nice to get dried out and feel some flexibility in the joints though

Talk to some racers around there. Would think they would know a fabricator that could knock one up in no time. They build pans for them all the time.

If the trans pan on my VX had fins on it . They would be no more, after a trip to Moab . Just saying.

Hmmmm... Fins to cool the tranny, and skid plates to heat it back up... sounds like a "no win" situation to me.
