    Rear Differential Offset

I recently bought a VX with a salvage title. After doing a little work on it I've noticed the rear diff. sets about 2" to the right side. I've looked for something bent like the brackets or trailing arms and can't find anything. It looks like the lateral bar has been changed, is it possible they used the wrong one when they replaced it? Does anyone know how long the lateral bar should be, and would something else even fit under it?

You might contact Calmini. IIRC, their lift kit comes with a panhard rod drop bracket that may fix that problem.

So is it a common problem, or something bent on my VX? Thanks for the response.

Not a common problem and I've never seen that come up before. I wonder if it's like you said, someone replaced the bar with the incorrect part or something. But why would that bar even need replacing. Surely someone can measure theirs and give you the length.

The VX was apparently hit in the left rear wheel, so it may have been bent then. A measurement would really help so I can see if it's the wrong bar or if I have other problems. If I find the bar is too long I will just shorten it.

It's not a common problem but it's not unheard of either. Several members who lifted their VX noticed that the rear axle shifted to the right several inches. They also noticed significant bump steer after lifting that may or may not be related.

I forgot to ask, are you lifted?

Here's some reading for you on the topic:
