Post Ferrari FF, More Muscular VX???

Have you guys seen this new Ferrari FF http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2011...hooting-brake/. It sure seems like the Vehicross idea done with more muscle. Perhaps someone should point this out to our friend at the Wall Street Journal? Comments please.

    Cool

Looks more like a stretched out Cheetah to me...

    I'd rather have the Cheetah...

Check it out on www.ferrariworld.com. Right down to the torque on demand this new Ferrari FF is a 20 years later copy of the VX. (Of course it's more powerful and luxurious, but essentially the same automotive design concept.) It's the best form of flattery for the VX...imitation.

I am confused, how is that anything like the VX? My first feeling was a Dodge Magnum mated with a Mazda Protege 5, a little bit of gym time and some steroids...

Odd, I don't see a Dodge anywhere in that photograph.

The Ferrari looks more like a clone-copy of the 1st generation BMW M-Coupe. As far as All-Terrain goes, it is only gonna' see two(2) types of terrain-- Asphalt & Concrete!!!

And some fancy garage epoxy flooring.
I don't know if it is really all terrain, how much ground clearance does it have? Would you say the stock evo or STI is AT because they are AWD? I am thinkin that if I was going to spend 150K plus on a car, it better look badass, and that car, although cool, does not look 150K worth of badass.

It's the first all-terrain two door Ferrari for starters and it's rear wheel drive , with 50/50 weight distribution, just like the VX. Then it boasts TOD, and a front mid-engine location design. You need to watch their videos and then go to Youtube and look at the old VX ads/videos. (You know, Isuzu never originally advertised the VX as a rock climber, that's a purpose that that the folks on this board have created for it. It was originally billed as an "all-terrain world tourer", and accordingly entered in the Paris-Dakar rally etc.)

2 inch ground clearance that thing would get stuck on a shadow

We're not really talking just physical lookswise here... we're talking about design and purpose -built technology together in a package. The VX was the first all terrain great handling touring vehicle that looked slick and not toaster-like , which is what all the other SUV's of the that period in time looked kinda like. The Ferrari FF mimicks that same basic concept, except other all terrain touring vehicles today since arrived that look okay, but not quite up to the Ferrari's standards and the technological guts do the same as the VX but only "squared" performance- wise. History has basically repeated itself.
