Antenna question

Anyone know if we have a powered amplified antenna? I see a wire at the antenna and traced it back. I just recently noticed my aftermarket stereo to have weak reception. I'm thinking it might be the problem.

I don't know if it's powered, but sometimes I'll drive around without my antenna and don't experience ANY reception degradation around town. (If I go though the auto-wash, I remove it so it doesn't get torn off and then don't reinstall it until I get home.) I have a cheapie aftermarket stereo.
