    Horn sticks, then dies...

My horn has stuck on a couple of times over the past 2 years, and after responding to a few beatings, finally quit working entirely (Friday, at 5:00 PM, naturally).

I looked at the VX parts list, but wasn't able to find a separate listing for a "horn pad", "switch", actuator", or similar part. I'd pull the battery cables and take apart the wheel to investigate, but I'd hate to lose my radio presets if there is nothing to see. My biggest fear is that the horn switch is an integral part of the OE horn cover/air bag, and will cost $600-700 to replace.

Can anyone who has taken the wheel cover off tell me anything about the horn switch?

I have taken mine a part a bit because I had the same problem with the sticking. From what I could tell the horn switch is a part of the Air bag stuff and not cheap. I found the ground wire for the horn relay under the dash and put in a seperate horn switch in one of the blanks on the dash.

If all else fails, just use your middle finger as sign language in lieu of using your horn.

My middle finger would probably not pass state inspection. Also, I need a horn to get inattentive drivers to look at my finger.

Talking Reading the initial post gave me a chuckle...

especially, "finally quit working entirely (Friday, at 5:00 PM, naturally)."...

I thought: why would the time matter...

Then saw that you live in a large metropolis, where a horn is necessary to get around.

I only ever use mine to give a beep to folks I know...

Wow, you could kill someone with 157 dB!

I was able to source a used driver airbag from Kevin at Airbags OEM in Dallas, a lucky Google search find.

Total price shipped from the yard in WA was just over $200. It should be here Friday.
