Random thing's I've done to my VX

So I bought my baby in April of last year, and since then done a few things to her and figured I'd finally get around to compiling it into one thread and finally get some pictures up. so lets go in order:

0: OME lift with 912's and T-bar crank

1: installed cheap OBX lights (ebay) in the oval holes in the front cladding. nothing special, basically function as DRL's.

    2. Used Showroom New black all over. my cladding was very very blotchy before and faded, I have no idea why. But it was completely cleared up by 2 coats of the dye and I really like the outcome.

    Before

All other pictures are after the treatment.

    3. Installed curt hitch

    4. added rear hatch popper and opener similar to others on the site and wired it to a button of a rodeo (or trooper?)

    5. New infinity kappa 6.5" speakers in the rear (already had ones up front), rewired everything, put in a different pioneer deck because the boss touch screen deck that was in there sounded absolutely Horrible. And added an amp for all the speakers. see subwoofer picture for mounting location. I would not recommend these speakers. although infinity kappas are supposed to be good, they dont have ANY base, and they also did not fit well, I had to trim the backside of the plastic substantially to get it back on over them.

    6. Mirrors, roof rails, and spoiler in bedliner. I hate the faded grey look of the mirrors and roof rails i think it really detracts, so I made mine all black.
    Before

    After

Also at some point I refinished and repainted my hood insert flat black

    7.SUBWOOFERS
2 memphis 10" subs hooked to a Massive p1000 amp. I had another amp on there, but since I hooked up the Massive, It pounds pretty good. (makes my cd player skip on the right songs...) guess its time for a new deck I want to get an HD radio. The one that was in there was a pioneer I pulled outa my jeep so its good, but nothing new. The box was a PITA to build due to all those angles, but I was going for the correct size for the subs.

Sub amp on top and speaker amp hidden to the right, attached to the plastic.

    8. Added some diamondplate pattern shop-floor tiles to the cargo area, will add pictures. I like the look of it and i don't have to worry about the carpet.

8.5. steel braided lines since my braking sucked due to big wheels/tires. It helped substantially I think.

    9.Rock sliders
I worked at a machine shop part time over the summer/fall semesters and didn't want to let it go to waste. Made these myself with some trial and error for fitment, then bedlinered them to match everything else.

    10. Spare tire
well they don't make my rims anymore but I was able to find an 18 inch (not 20) chrome wheel on clearance and had it powdercoated ($45) and found a tire to match the rest pretty closely. Got a mount from a trooper, cut/welded/bent/painted and mounted on the rear door.

    11. License plate mount.
removed one of the rear reflectors, cut a plate, drilled holes, welded on nuts, used a peice of plastic to attach to reflectors place on cladding, painted. I have a light to install, just haven't gotten there yet.

    12. PIAA 005x lights to replace fogs. I had a broken fog light so decided to replace with something better. Found these $300 lights on ebay without a harness for $75. Made a wire harness and made a bradket to mount them. Love them. just as bright as my stock brights. I have HID dims which are a little brighter, but the PIAA are pencil beams and super bright so they are great. I'm planning on installing two more sets of PIAA 520's (one ATP, and the other fog) but I need to find someone with a big enough tube bender to help me with a heavy duty light bar idea. (I've already made the brackets)
I put both sets of my current lights onto switches and installed a master switch that will run all (hopefully soon to be 4 sets) of my aux lights so that I don't blind oncoming traffic.

That's all I can think of for now. hopefully some of this was helpful to someone, or if you're thinking of one of these projects maybe i answered some questions.

I have the same rims. Please keep me in mind if you ever upgrade to other rims. Likewise, I will keep you in mind if I upgrade.

Thanks JAMAS I appreciate it and for sure will let you know if I ever get rid of them.

nice rocksliders. I wish I had a a pipe bender
Me too I welded those, no bender.
I was actually waiting on a guy I worked with to bring his hydraulic bender to the shop (him and his buddy build it for his rock crawler) and I was gona use it for the sliders and a light bar, but he never got it in before I had to move for my Co-op at semester. Not many machine shops even have benders that can do 2" tubing, so thinking about building one. could be a fun project

added a Rage roof rack, 4 PIAA 520's and a custom bracket for them, and added new decals. (they make it go faster...) Oh and a CB. not a good shot but you can kinda see the antenna. its mounted on the rear hatch, driver side.

    Try this website http://metals.about.com/gi/dynamic/o...bingbender.htm

You can make your own tube bender, if you have the desire. I had thought about building one a while ago.

Oh, and over a year later, all the spray-on bedliner on the mirrors, roof rails, and spoiler still looks like new. I would recommend it.

Next up: gona try to get my fangs chromed, and I'm picking up another rear hatch to try something similar to rado's spare tire mount cuz 1: it looks more secure than mine and 2:I think it looks pretty BA.
