I just wish I had learned a lesson from my bro-in-law. I'd been storing things on the designated space with my internet provider - one day they were gone. They stopped offering that service but didn't offer any advance warning.

    Exclamation

Before I lose what little sanity I have left,
can somebody PLEASE tell me how to copy the pics from MeowMix's Moab pics album in Photobucket to my Photobucket account??
I want the actual files, not just a link to them.....

    • I tried downloading it (as it shows how to do it)......but it keeps saying I've already downloaded it within 24 hrs and can't do it again unless I start process all over....
      So I started over....same problem....

    • I tried dragging each pic over to my account....

    • I tried emailing it (under Share function)…all I got was a link TO her album, not copied to mine.

    • I tried the "share" function...only offers to send email and/or the link code.......see above

    • Can't figure out how to direct it to UPLOAD pics FROM her account to mine...

    • I don't use facebook or twitter so that's not an option.

    HELP!!!!

Unfortunately the easiest way photobucket has is to FTP the files in and out. The downside, is you need a pro account, otherwise they put all these limitations on you that makes it difficult/hassle downloading...

Have you decided which hosting you are using?

I do prefer picasaweb over all of them, they do have a standalone app that you can download that helps a lot in organizing and then you can sync to picasaweb... The upside for me using it, is all picures I take on my phone is auto-uploaded to picasaweb so I always have a backup.

Kat: I too am a Nikon & a Mac junkie.. much like driving my VX, I refuse to lay my hands on the pc that's in my living room.. lol.. unless it needs tech support because it's dying.. or whatever else issues pc users have.. I find that running Chrome browser seems to be the best.. I can't stand slow safari.. even firefox makes me nuts.. too slow.. if you're finding across the board that websites in general are ALL seeming to have issues, reboot (shut off /unplug-wait 30 seconds plug back in) routers & modems or whatever web access you have. For instance, I find about once a month chrome on my mac starts slowing way down, pages won't load for what seems like eternity.. error logs, all the bs.. I reboot modem & router that's wired to the PC (Im wireless on my MacBook) and it's triple speed and runs great on any website..
As far as websites for hosting photo's only.. I use a few, I am a freelance photographer, and I tend to use caution when posting gallery worthy photo's just anywhere.. so I guess it depends on really what you're looking for. Large amounts of storage space? displaying a few great pic's? selling them? all of the above? I use photobucket for daily snap shots not worth $$.. cafepress for selling.. copyright protected..
driving anything other than my Proton makes me want to puke

For whatever ever reason, my pc is the same way with chrome...

I know... my fingers are dirty, cuz I use a pc, but I don't have to coax it into the mood...

    for the tips anyway...

I can't help with the online transfer, but... how 'bout going a little lower tech? Mail MeowMix a cheap thumb drive (of appropriate size, of course) and ask to her copy her original files onto it and mail it back in a self addressed stamped envelope.

Thanks Adam, interestingly, after I started this thread back a few months ago, PhotoBucket has NOT bombed on me, so I've continued to use it.

I did use picasaweb for a little while...think I was running into storage space problem...maybe I'll revisit it again.

    Thanks fellow Nikonite & Mac-ee.
My quad processor does the same thing you described, Safari slows down after I've not rebooted for about 2 weeks or so. So I have to reboot, turn modem off/on and the wireless Airport also clears. But I've also found I have to clear my history and that maximizes the speed.

I've never tried Chrome....maybe I'll look into that.

My needs are: large amount of storage space, lots and lots of storage space. I have over 18,000 on my Mac now, and over 2,000 on PhotoBucket as of now. Nothing for sale.

Coax it?....my quad processors are on 24/7 awaiting my commands!

Well, I have to admit, just today, hubby suggested the same low tech method ....I replied....pphhffft!
I'm quite sure my Mac can do anything!!! ....if just the operator could do the same.......

I think I'll even do it a little easier way....MEOWMIX....can you please EMAIL all your pics to me? I'll email you!
Maybe break it into 10GB or less per email?

Question Revive this thread?, or start anew...

As I've been once again bitt'n by the photo bug over the course of the summer, I'm wondering if there is any interest in either prolonging this thread, or starting a new one.
It would be a thread dedicated to posting links to, & examples of, whatcha been doin' with your clicky thingy & the associated glass that fastens to the front of it...in whatever mount you prefer
(I have some old M42 glass adapted to Minolta/Sony mount)
I've got stuff on both flick'r & the bucket.

    What say all Y'all?

That's kind of a cool idea Dub, think you should start a new thread for it.
