VX Air Box Shared with Trooper or Rodeo?

My air box was damaged in the accident back in November and I need to find a replacement. Can't find any VX's nearby but there are tons of Troopers and Rodeos. Does anybody know if the those air boxes cross reference? The Trooper one sure looks the same from the parts catalog photos. The left pic is the VX diagram and right pic is for a Trooper.

do the used parts places list it as compatible? look it up on Merlin's website to see if it's the same #.
Didn't your 2nd VX have one?

Both air boxes sustained damage in their respective accidents.

I can't figure out how to see the part #'s on Merlin or IsuzuParts' websites. Help?

Yeh, if Isuzu had something in the bin that they could cross utilize between models, they weren't apt to re-invent it...

I would think that cross referencing air filter part #'s would give a pretty good cross section of models that were same-same.

In this ebay ad, there are 7 pages of cross referenced vehicles (135) with the same air filter application, including some Toyotas...

Not sure if all those models share the exact same box, but it's a good starting point.

I already looked at the air box on the wife's Axiom and it's a no-go - air filter dimensions are the same, but the port that goes back to the engine is in a different place.

The 2000 VX and the 2000 Trooper box are exactly the same price on isuzuparts.com, but the Rodeo one is more expensive.

    I'd start there.

Talked to Merlin and the official line is that the part #'s for the VX and Trooper box are indeed different. Merlin agreed that the pictures are nearly identical, but he didn't know for sure if they would interchange without some modification. Trying to decide whether to pick up a Trooper air box for $75 tonight or drive an hour or two out of my way tomorrow to pick up a VX air box from an other junkyard. Hate to spend that $75 on the Trooper one and have it not fit - at that point I could have just paid the $150 or so for a brand new one.

Thanks for the offer Erick, I'll let you know. It looks like I may have a line on one in a yard that's on my way home from where I'm at right now, so I may end up doing that instead. I would hate to drive that far with a gaping hole in the air box, but I might depending on price. (The yard wants $75 which is about half of new.)

Confirmed that the one in the yard on my way home is in good shape, so I'm going to pick that one up tomorrow. They've still got the whole VX there (it's a '99) so I'm going to check it out and see what's left. Already confirmed the cross bars are gone.

Lol... I know, I know Dub. But I have this paranoia that it would get sucked into the intake somehow and ka-boom! I am not ready for an engine swap just yet.

I know it's not that serious, but in this case it's easy enough to pick up one from the yard on my way home and just get it off my to-do list.
