any body ever manage to find a way to sneek in there and remove the trans pan without unbolting the crossmember. All the bolts on mine are ceazed up bad. Can you get in there using a swivel head socket??

dont think you can remove the pan with the cross member still there????
You can but its WAY easier to remove the crossmember.
pay attention to those transmission bolts, the transmission housing is aluminum and very soft. I stripped/spun one bolt's hole during my filter change and had to put a larger bolt and a nut to fix.
Not only is it usually easier in my opinion to do that job with the cross-member removed, but along with what atilla mentioned, it's also easier to get the proper torque on the pan bolts when you've got a straight shot at them (not using a universal joint which can sometimes result in over-tightening due to universal socket binding).
Clean the trans bolt threads first, get everything in place, apply some thread-locker to each bolt, then torque appropriately. Less chance of over-tightening/stripping pan bolt threads.
