VX skid plate kit

Hi all,

I am new and just got VX. Very interesting vehicle..
I NEED HELP TO GET SKID PLATE KIT ( ENGINE, TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE.)
HARD TO FIND...

welcome to the group, give us some more info so we can help you out-

what exactly are you looking for? steel? fiberglass? tube? plate? 1/8 inch? 1/4 inch? Is your VX lifted? does it have a diff drop on it? etc.

3" lifted, I would like to have it thick 1/4 inch and steel.
I am gonna go camping off road soon.

Not sure if you can still get them but it's worth a shot.

I think the Kilby's are closer to 1/8th inch steel rather than 1/4 inch, but after banging around on them in Moab for a few days I'd bet they will be more than up to whatever you can throw at them.

Pricey but very nice.

skid plates. They have been known for difficulty of getting a hold of. Keep trying they are a small company

Trooper skid plates work...bolt right on.

I believe 1994 ish model....use search function here to verify.

3 separate plates..cover all the essentials...
....have served me VERY well for multiple Moabs

Try local scrap yards...cost about $70-100 for all three.

The Trooper plates mentioned ....
....are used by some of the more "aggressive" ( extreme.. ) Moab VX'ers.

Unless you are going to be insanely BRUTAL...

..I bet they'd do you just fine.

Quick search says 93-99 Trooper.

And FYI...the "front one" ..at the area nearest the front of the drive shaft...
...has been known to bend and make contact with shaft/flange.

A quick trim with a grinder solves this issue.

The "front" one is pretty worthless IMO, too thin to do much, and easily gets pushed up into the front driveshaft, making a truly glorious noise. I didn't even have mine on for the trip to Moab, that's how important I think it is. The transfer case and catalytic converter skids are much thicker and do a decent job, but being supported on 3 corners the way they are they can't hold up to serious bashing, as proven in my RS Trooper.

The Kilbys are in a whole 'nother league, as seen above.

Kudo's to you VX-KAT. As usual, your pictures are very enlightening and in crystal clear detail that need no further explaination. The Kilby belly-pan skidplates are simply total undercarriage armor-plate from front-to-back, and any attempt to further improve upon its original design is futile. The Kilby's maintain maximum ground clearance, ease of routine maintenance accessability (oil changes), and are capable of supporting the entire weight (2 Tons) of the VX on a single boulder as a fulcrum without any damage to sensitive components. No other belly-pan skidplate for the VX can even come close to the Kilby's. They are simply the best and have no peer, regardless of cost or price. 'Nuff said.
