    Switch Panel

Hi, can anyone help me find a switch panel for my wife's 01 Vehicross. I've tried isuzu parts and they cancelled my order because they don't know if they'll ever get any in. I can't find any salvage yards that have one. I'm in Spring, TX. There seem to be a lot more in the Northern states. I really need the right switch panel but I'll take both if anyone can locate a junked VX. Thanks, Bill.

Which specific switches are you needing?

It's not a switch. It's the Right switch panel. Basically it's the top part of the door handle that the window switch is in.

So you are looking for the black bezel that the passenger window/door lock switches fit into - kind of the armrest area?

    What's the reason for replacement?

(I ask because if it's an issue of the bezel just not staying secure, replacing it may not fix the problem.)

The one on the right has a piece cracked off, so it looks bad and the plastic clip that is part of it is broke off so every time you shut the door it falls off. Also the clip on the one on the driver side is breaking off so wouldn't mind replacing it too.

We couldn't quite tell which part you were after because you only said "switch panel" but you didn't include the other qualifiers...
BODY HARDWARE / DOOR / INTERIOR TRIM / SWITCH PANEL

Really common for these to crack, exactly as you described. My driver side has done it twice now.

    Here's some options for you:

    • You can still order these NEW from Isuzu, they're $70.58 each without the electronics.

    • Call Merlin at St. Charles AutoGroup in Missouri 800-727-8066.
      It's a former Isuzu dealership.
Ask for Merlin in the "Isuzu Parts Department".
He can tell you availability in real time and about how long it would take to get it.
He's been a very helpful part contact guy for years. Knows the VX forward and backwards. Discounted prices and free shipping.

Here's their website, same prices and free shipping.
      http://www.stcharlesautoparts.com/

    • You're after part #15:

    • If you want a USED one...salvage yard is an option.

      http://www.mypartshop.com/default.aspx
This site that searches MANY many salvage yards across the country. you can search the site for the specific part, but I don't think they go down to this level of detail for the handle....so probably try searching for interior door panel or something like that...AND it lists contact info, so start calling and calling and calling around. They all ship parts, so it doesn't have to be local to you.

I selected "DOOR ELECTRIC SWITCH" as that was the closest thing I could find. It found 5 available at various yards. Now you have to start calling them to see if it's what you want.

    • You can also search using "dash panel", for example, as it's a very general part, and call the salvage yards listed that have a VX in their lot and ask if they have the part. The site lists the contact info/toll free numbers.

This is the part you're talking about, right?

Here's how I "fixed" mine, doesn't look too bad...just wrapped electric tape around it. Helps prevent the crack from splitting further.

Gotcha - thanks for the clarification! I really hope a replacement fixes your problem. I'm just a little worried because my passenger side bezel had a 1/2" triangle of plastic broken out of it and a NEW part didn't really fix the fitment problem. Yeah, it looks better and stays on better (temporarily) but there is a lip (maybe in more than one place) that has broken off of the door panel and I think that if that was intact it would probably keep the bezel in place permanently.

Thanks vx kat for all the info. And pics. I got both pieces ordered(left and right). However I'm in back order hell. They have one in stock but not the other. They say they'll expedite the shipping as soon as it comes in. By the way, I'm thinking about getting the Proton VX in Richardson, TX. What do you think it's worth from description?

Well after trying Isuzu parts.com and st. Charles Isuzu it seems that the door switch bezels have been discontinued. Maybe this isn't news to everyone here, but it's news to me. I've ordered one before and got it. Now back to my original post... Does anyone know offhand where there might be a left and right side door switch bezel?

Got tired of my broken driver's inside door handle.....
Original cracked, got one from a salvage yard...now it's cracked exactly the same place.....decided to pony up for a new one!

Ordered thru Merlin, listed as "Back Order" but it took just 3 1/2 weeks, not 8 weeks. I actually ordered 2 Driver's side handles.
    ISUZU PART # 8-97198689-1
    $70.58

Looking at the new one I realized mine was missing more tabs at the back than I realized.....now it will fit nice and snug on that rear-most part!

So I figure I've got 10 or 11 years before I have to deal with it again!

I probably will this fall. As for your email.... For our Hardtop we will be re doing the cut off oem roof. The VX roof line and angles match nothing else. We also will be seperating the rear window from the door, also making it re-installable.

Dropped a snail mail in the box for you. thanks for the help with the knobs.
