Any ideas?
Thanks, chad

You have to try harder than that...
You need to check the codes and look them up in the service manual. Most auto part stores will check codes for free.

When my cel/tranny light came on they were able to read it. In my case it was a transmission slippage code that I still get from time to time during long highway drives. My trans still shifts fine and has been doing this for a couple years now.

The code is p1870 which is transmission component slipping.
Said it could be low fluid, or component failure. Thats not much to go on, and I was hoping that it would be a common problem that someone knew just what to do about it.
I think that the P.O. had the codes cleared just before I showed up for it. The cel came on when I was driving it home from purchasing it. That was the egr, which is common and easy to fix. Yesterday evening the cel and check tranny light came on. I was making a scenic drive with my wife to look at the fall leaves up in the mountains. Probably a 100 mile loop or so. It may just be something I learn to live with until it starts to actually show some simptoms.
I will pull the fill plug and make sure it is full of fluid. I am planning on doing a full filter and fluid change on the tranny this weekend.
I appreciate the help.
