Headlight cleaning?

I have a film (oem) over the surface of the headlights, It has all peeled away except at the top section.

What have you all used to restore the headlights?
I am sure this is some kind of clear coat from the factory. My VX was from dry climent when I rescued her.

there's many threads on this topic, with all kinds of details....use the search bar and try words headlight cleaning, or Maguiar's headlight cleaning, 3M headlight....many many of us have done it with great success. I used the 3M kit.

Only downside is you are sanding off what little UV protection they may have had.

BUT....there's a liquid spray on product by Blue Magic that is a UV agent....and some others have had the entire lens (or entire front end) coating in a clear coat material with a UV protectant. VT_Maverick and Rowhard have both done it.

The kits are expensive for what you get. Buy some wet/dry sand paper (800 grit - 5000 grit in 4 steps or so) and start sanding. Buy a bottle of Novus #2 plastic polish and a cotton wheel from harbor freight to fit a drill and polish out the sanding scratches after you are done with the 5000 grit. I've done a few headlights and many motorcycle fairing windsheilds that were pretty much destroyed and brought them all back to like new condition.

Yep...I believe Coastie had his sprayed with a UV stable clear coat...use the search function for the details...

I'm pretty sure that's what vt_maverick had applied, inlcuding the bra area.

I just bought this from my local dept store and it had everything I needed to restore my headlamps. It worked perfectly and made my headlights look brand new!

I used a kit that I bought from harbor freight tools. It was cheap and worked great.

Use shining spray on head light which remove all the dust, rust, scratches and other like these on head lights. You can see lights become new.
Spray on light and keep remain it for 5 mints and then polish with smooth clothes.

This a quick and cheap way for the headlights to look new. All I do is when I wash my VX let the headlights dry. Then get the ArmorAll protectant wipes and with one sheet wipe both lenses, wait till they are dry and they look brand new.

That's what's being applied to mine at the body shop. I'll let you know how it turns out.
