Awww come on Mark, don't discourage him. I brought Dakota with us last year and she did well out on the trail, even at 9 years old. BUT she loves riding in the vehicle and would be way more upset/nervous staying by herself in the hotel or at a kennel.

As for bringing all the stuff, well that's possible too, although I won't pretend that the accessories in this photo were cheap (except the watertight ammo cans, those things were like $8 on Amazon). We were able to bring our 3 year old, 9 month old, Dakota, and enough clothes and stuff for 3 weeks on the road.

In all seriousness you should probably leave your dog at home if you have that option. I'm sure it was illegal for me to take her out of the car at lunchtime on the trail, but we were doing Moab back-to-back with our bi-annual trip to Wisconsin and I didn't want to leave her at a kennel for 3 weeks.

Well, room is a non-issue for me since we're bringing a 5th wheel RV with us. But as much as my dog loves riding in the truck, he can undo both harnesses I own (hidden thumbs I think!), and I wouldn't want to risk getting thrown out of a park or worse for having him with me.

It's only 5 days without him....

The place Scott mentioned is good. I know "phines" kenneled his dog there a night or two a few years back.

Elephant Hill is on N.P., so that one is a no-no. "Zeus" got ticketed for having his dog on NP trail a few years ago.

Hubby is bringing two of our dogs on Wednesday, (yes Dub, "ghost eye" is coming to visit ya again!) - - - they love it and are used to flopping around a bit (on a big padded cushion) .

Sometimes there's somebody hanging out on the stoop for the day instead of running a trail, maybe they can watch the dog for a few hrs?

I saw mid 80s too. Plus I checked that my A/C is working well

Kat you just need a cabana boy to fan you while you drive.

I gotta pray replacing the fan clutch WAS the fix for the overheating with the A/C on in super hot temps
Remember, I replaced it AFTER MOAB last year, where I learned the Ron Davis racing radiator alone, wasn't quite enough to handle A/C, 90+ temp, AND crawling pretty slowly - on TOTW trail.
Since install, I've only had one day over 100 down in Phoenix to "test" it.

Conspiracy sites claim a high probability of a Butters sighting Saturday night (5/11) at dinner. According to the Illuminati, the sighting hinges on if the convoy some call "ToCaliWeTravelAfterAStopInDenver" stays in touch that day. Or Ldub calls to keep me in the loop. Yeah, that'll work.

Did you replace it with an OEM fan clutch?

You guys will probably be leaving way earlier then me, though I'm going to try and make it out of town a bit earlier then normal this year. Maybe I'll catch up to you at some point. I want to try and get there early enough to get camp set up before dinner time since there will actually be others in town to hang out with for a change.

So, are tin foil hats required or optional?

BEEEEEJ, it would be great to see you. I am taking tomorrow off to detail the VX and will be leaving for Moab mid-morning to mid-afternoon on Saturday if you want to convoy on over.

Absolutely! I read about your problems with the cheapos, and a few others, so went OEM, and it required the NEWLY DESIGNED fan blade as well.
