I was hit by the "git-r-dun" bug today.

I decided that I wanted to show some luv to my VX today. Since I have this day off as my weekend, I was able to devote the whole day to painting and restoring.

First off, I took apart the dash because I thought it needed a little more yellow. Went to the store and bought my the most matching yellow I could find(which at Fred Meyer doesn't really give you many options).

I didn't find one that matched exactly, but in the dark cabin, doesn't look too different than the outside.

While I was waiting for the first coat of paint to dry, I decided to restore my headlamps, as they were all scuffed up looking. I could tell that the VX was appreciative, because she was shedding tears of joy after I was done.

After adding about 3-4 coats of paint, the spray can was used up, so I let is dry some more and then installed it.

Now I want to pain the side doors! But that'll have to wait another weekend.

I concluded this productive day by giving her a wash

    VERY WELL DONE!

Bringing the exterior color into the interior and / or under the hood is ALWAYS a good look!

    Triple thumbs up!

Thanks! The interior paint doesn't match the exterior, and I was kind of just getting an idea of the difficulty and found out that it actually isn't all that tough to do so I will be looking for a matching hue and will repaint... in the future. sometime. later.

    HT,

I found that the "Farm Equipment Yellow" available at Lowes is a pretty close match. IIRC it's by Rustoleum. I've referred to it as John Deere yellow in other threads as well.

If you look in my gallery at the pix of my new rear door, that's the color it ended up (even painted over Maroon).

And remember.... there is about a 99.9999% chance that YOU will be the only person who notices that the color match isn't exactly the same. Everybody else will just think it looks incredibly AWESOME - and hopefully, you will too and you'll enjoy your good work!
