what size tire would fit the vx without looking stupid. I have a 3 or 4 inch lift. I dont want to rub and thought maybe 285/70-16 would be a good choice but i think i might be better with 32s, i think 285/70 16 are 33. WHat do you guys think?

I'm not sure about the 16s in general. I'm running 285/60R18XL which comes out to be 31.5" in diameter, and quite a few of us are running this size. There's a significant amount of trimming to be done in the front wheel wells, but they can be pretty well behaved after.

Im not sure about 16s either. I am running 33x12.50s and after trimming there is no rubbing whatsoever.

Basicly, if you want little to no trimming stick with 31x10.5 16's with stock wheels or wheels with the same backspacing. As the tires get bigger or wider requires more trimming and/or pounding in the rear of the front wheelwell. Wheel offset will have the same affect.
There is a great post you can search for that shows pictures of many, many, many, manywheel/tire combo's.

If you plan on using the 1999 model OEM 16x7 rims (I hope), then you should be able to fit either 285/75R16 (32.8" O.D) or 295/75R16 (33.4" O.D.) with minimal fitment issues. With a 3 or 4 inch lift; I recommend the latter of 295/75R16 (33.4" O.D.), as it will help fill-up the huge gaps in your lifted wheel-wells.

Both of these tire sizes show a minimum rim width of 7.5", but they both can easily be "squeezed" onto a 7" rim with no problems. By using your OEM 16x7 rims will greatly minimize any rubbing or fitment problems.
