    Anybody ever seen or heard of EZ TOW trailer?

    Has anybody ever seen or heard of an EZ TOW trailer?
    ~The hole deal weighs 344 lbs, with towing capacity of 1,000 lbs.
    ~It's just a polypropylene plastic box with a wood floor.
    ~Can add a tongue box and can get a jockey wheel as option, but I can't imagine needing it to move it.
    ~I'd have maybe 200 pounds cargo, so 544 lbs...VX would handle that w/o a sweat.

    The inside view reminds me of a porta-pottie.
    To bad they are so expensive. The dimensions are about perfect for 2 bikes and a couple pieces of luggage.

    I feel like it could be TOO light. I'm just picturing an unloaded trailer and how annoying it is to tow because it bounces and sways. i have a feeling that would be that way all the time its tall and light. Most light trailers are pretty short.. That has a lot of potential for catching wind with no weight to hold it in place

    Good point Eric, hadn't thought of that. I'd be loading about 200 lbs in it, at least, and maybe luggage/stuff, add another 100 lbs..... so still very light....can see the trailer bouncing and being blown sideways.

    ~We considered getting a small utility trailer - much more hassle/overkill and everything gets SO dirty and dusty...YUK

    ~Also considered a hitch mounted platform/ramp thing. Read so many reviews that say these BOUNCE up and down like crazy on the hitch. I recall Mav's big cargo box ended up with cracked welds from the up and down motion. A 100 lb metal platform with a 200 lb scooter, driving on a rocky/dirt road, may well have a similar problem I'd guess, and it would still be dirty....

    ~Think this suspension would help at all with bouncing? At least it has 12" tires.

    It looks interesting. I have had many trailers over the years, half of them have been homemade trailers, like our current one. My old Amigo trailer was much heavier, yet it did tow straight even in heavy wind.

    I would try one for trailering our small jet ski's. Looks llike we could fit 2 standup ski's side by side with gear on top.

    My Haulmark two place enclosed snowmobile trailer has a trailing torsion bar axle and it doesn't bounce empty or loaded. It is a heavybuilt trailer though. Twin steel 8" I-beam frame rails, steel cargo box frame, aluminum skinned and plywood lined with a 3/4" plywood floor...heavy built! Probably close to a thousand pounds empty, so the wind doesn't seem to have it's way with it. That is the curse of any light, high-sided enclosed trailer, the wind, especially a cross-wind. If your intended cargo is low-profile, stick with the lowest profile enclosed trailer possible. I've seen some new aluminum low-profile U-Haul tailers that look pretty slick, I don't know who makes 'em though...

    Buy a Harbor Freight trailer for $250 and build and enclosure.

    you know, I get their emails, and actually thought about that the other day...but then I saw the "torsion" axle thing on the EZ Tow and thought anything from HF would be cheapo and not be as good.
    I could consult my off road guy about any upgrades and making it better....no doubt still way cheaper than $2100!
    Still need to have it enclosed...that's the real leading criterion.
    Surely there must be OTHER very small enclosed trailers out there...but I haven't found them....yet.....

    U-haul has one called a sport trailer, smaller and low, don't know if they ever sell they at any time or not. Just read an old thread(06)about them and they don't sell them.

    Did a little digging on CL this morning and found the Let's Go Aero company which seems to make some pretty interesting options. The big question is how tall is your scooter? Here's an option that may work, it's still pricey but a lot nicer and still less than the plastic box you posted earlier:

    They're based out of Colorado Springs so maybe you and Dave could just go pick it up to save on shipping? Isn't there a Colorado meet under discussion?

    Here's another option they offer but it won't work for you out of the box because it doesn't have a ramp. However it is small, light, aerodynamic, and might be just the right size:

    All true. It looks like they took that into consideration though. The extra-long tongue combined with the aft positioned axle will probably go a long way in mitigating those issues. Look at the second pic posted by KAT (tan frame with black box). It looks like it was one of their early prototypes & they had the axle mounted farther forward. The rest of the pix look like production models with the axle farther aft.

    Not sure a custom ramp is feasible considering the clamshell opening of the box.

    I was thinking if you removed the hinges on the rear half of the shell and attached it permanently to the front half of the shell you'd then have an opening mechanism more like the first trailer option I posted above. Then you'd need to cut the back part of the plastic bottom and install some hinges (along with weatherstripping I'm sure). Seems doable to a non-engineer.
