    AR5 Tranny Ratio

During my research of the wiring etc. for the 5 spd trans swap I found some interesting info. The stated gear ratio is not what what has been listed prior or in the wiki page.
The info I found in the Trooper manual pg 2386 shows the gear ratios at:

    1st 3.954 x 2.48 TOD TC x 4.30 Diff = 42.1
    2nd 2.330
    3rd 1.436
    4th 1.000
    5th 0.788
    Rev 3.918

    as opposed to the wiki:

    !st 3.75 x 2.48 TOD TC x 4.30 Diff = 39.9
    2nd 2.26
    3rd 1.51
    4th 1.00
    5th 0.73
    Rev 3.67

So, even lower than originally thought.

Nice. I was also using the WIKI page for the AR5 used in the hummer/pontiac. I like the gearing you found more... now i'm really excited to plan the swap.

We have a pretty steep gravel driveway and a decent drop-off at the edge of the garage, so I like to put it in 1st, shift into 4Lo, then let her pull herself into the garage. No need to manage the clutch, push the gas, nothing. Same thing in Moab last year. 1st gear is LOW in the AR-5.

It's motivation Jon, not rubbing it in.

It's actually really good motivation. After driving your VX around the block last year, I was certain the swap would be a future project.

Also, having Scott local should help tremendously for questions/concerns. Hopefully I'll join the 5-speed club by the end of summer/early fall.
