VX partner car -- How many own an Eclipse???

I have once again read another post about someone else and their Eclipse. Its interesting to me how so many of us flock to the same type of vehicles. So I thought I would ask the question.

    Who owns a Mitsubishi Eclipse?

I own a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT

Not only do I currently own an Eclipse Spyder, I had them since 1991, it has been 22 year addition to DSMs. But my first Mitsubishi was '86 Station, purchased for 1/3 of its new price in 1989. Their values used to drop unbelievably fast!
96 Eclipse Spyder GSX (already turbo, AWD swap)
93 Eagle Summit AWD (4G63 turbo swaps)

I bought my wife an 01 Spyder GT and sold it maybe a year after I bought it, to many issues with it. Not to mention how much of a PITA it was to change the spark plugs on that V6 engine. She now has a 2006 Pontiac G6 GT loaded and have been really happy with it.

P.S. My brother use to be into Eclipses before he bought his 91 MR2 Turbo, he had a 99 RS with a Hahn Racecraft Stage 2 turbo kit on it (big 16g turbo and FMIC), then he sold that and got a 98 GS-T with a fully built engine and a GT35R turbo, it made a tad over 600 HP to the wheels on high boost.

    That's awesome!

Be sure to mark that in the poll too.

I was seriously considering a Mistubishi Starion/Dodge Conquest TSi at one time...is that close enough? I ended up with a 2nd gen. Ford Probe GT that I always thought had styling that was also ahead of it's time. http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/sh...161/ppuser/586 As a matter of fact, I still get people checking it out when I'm out and about, although obviously not as much as the VX.

The first car I ever actually ever financed was a '94 eclipse. That was a fun car. The only problem I ever had with it was one time when I went to pull out the cigarette lighter (with the light up housing surrounding it) and the entire assembly came out of the center console. Just like my VX....I don't think I ever drove that with the power option off.

Nope, never considered one actually. Closest I had was my '01 Cougar as my first car, then a crappy '03 Chevy S-10 Crew Cab (CarMax Lemon). Traded that towards a new '09 Nissan 370Z which I sold when I got the VX this year. I hope to find my 370 again someday and buy it back, it was that good!

First and only Mitsubishi I have owned is a Evolution RS 9 in WW only a 150 made. Researched the motor for six years before I bought one. It has been one of the most fulfilling cars I have owned. But its all VX now!!!! LOL!! Poor baby's now a garage queen!!!

Owned a 91GS and now a 93GS. I can't find any pictures of the 91, but here is the 93 getting put back together:

I even loaded 5 tires I picked up from VX-Kat into it!

DSMs stopped being sleepers in the mid 90's . That is when people realizes what they are capable of.

I literally have seen 40+ mitsu heads with bent valves, but this one takes the prize! Usually you can just swap the head and call it the day. What were you doing when the belt went? Did you try starting it? Ever figured out what caused it (often, it is caused by siezes balance shafts).

The engine was rebuilt by a reputable shop that specializes in DSM's here in Vegas several years ago, we had the Buschur Racing Balance Shaft Eliminator Kit installed and a few other small mods. It actually happened while my dad was driving it to drop my Niece off at school, it snapped from a stop sign, from normal driving. We, as in my brother, dad, and myself use the car as a backup, so we have been babying it... Just sucks its down when I need to use it! just a few weeks before that happened, I installed a new radiator too. But at this moment, it still looks cheaper to fix than the VX...
