How to Remove Gas Tank Skid Plate?

    Hi,

I have found one similar thread to my question, but it didnt answer my question.

My skid plate is starting to get surface rust and is very faded, you can especially notice when the trim is restored and that sticks out like a sore thumb.

I got under there to try to see where the bolts were, but It looked like the skid plate went under the cladding in the rear. So would I have to remove that?

Just wondering if anyone has done this and know the best way to do it. I appreciate it.

    Thanks

IIRC it was VXorado who dropped the fuel tank. Maybe send him a PM.

I believe that the shield is welded on so you'd be better off trying to paint it while it's still mounted. Removal of the rear bumper cover is a bit of a pain but it'll give you clear access to get everything cleaned up & painted. The instructions for removal of the rear bumper cover are located in the How2 for insatlling a hitch.
