    insta lube kit installed

    here are some pics of the insta lube kit installed..
    it was a bit tricky finding a spot for the tank..
    had to make a bracket for the mounting hardware that came with it

    and the tank installed

    here is a shot of the t fitting for the inlet hose and sender unit

    the gauge on the tank showing the pressure

    and a final install shot tucked under the air inlet pipe and maf sensor

    thats it..
    it is an engine prelube system delivers oil to the oil galley/bearing before each start up

    The neat thing is, it simply holds pressure from the previous engine-run and then when you turn the key before the next start-up it releases the pressurized oil into the oil galleys prelubing the bearings. Really simple and effective. Similar systems have been used in aviation for years...

    seems like a good idea - wondering why cars dont have these on there in the first place - something else to go wrong?

    car companies dont want the engines lasting forever....no one would buy a new car

    I've been looking at a similar product, Accusump. I like your install as well. Pretty clean.

    During my engine rebuild, I'm really thinking about putting one in along with a low oil pressure warning light.

    you will need something to pre lube the engine before your first start up..thats why i started lookin around and found the insta lube

    Hate to say it JH but you may have the dreaded plugged piston oil return holes that seems to be so prevalent these days. As our VX's reach their prime, more and more people are starting to experience the problems that seem to plague these little beasties as they age. Best of luck, hope you find an affordable fix!

    Now, a bit curious, do you pre-fill the bottle with oil before first start? I read that it pressurizes as the engine is running, and then it will pre lube at next start. So unless there is oil and pressure in the bottle for the very first start, it wouldn't work for what we are needing right? As in pre lubing before initial start after an engine rebuild.

    Updated: Also, I've used Assembly Lube several times with great results rebuilding my 4G63 motor (1g eclipse). Redline makes one too.

    You would be correct. The accumulator only charges after initial run-up. I suppose you could pre-charge it by filling with oil and then pressurizing with compressed air. They make pre-lube pressure bottles specifically for that purpose. Back in the days of distributor-ignition driven by the oil pump shaft you simply took a discarded distributor shaft and spun the pump with a drill until pressure built on the gauge, not quite so easy these days.

    correct i filled the bottle leaving 3/4 inches from the top.there is a schrader valve to ad pressure...turn the key and it filled the oil galley up before first start up
