Shock absorbers Rancho 9000's?

Hi everyone,
Having just re-united myself with my old VX here in the UK I am thinking that I must have been a lot more tolerant of ride quality 10 years ago as I find it's a bit too stiff a ride for me now.
I don't take it off road but use it mostly as my winter drive (this is because here in the UK my Porsche is £470 a year for road tax so I SORN it over winter and only pay half) I will have to buy the Rancho's from the States and would like to know if it would be better to buy the adjustable ones and where would be the best place to buy them.

MANY of us have the 9000 adjustable shocks . I've read here several times that people think the Ranchos set to the firmest setting (9) are still NOT as firm as the OEMs.

I replaced my OEMs about 4 years ago. I am very happy with the adjustable.

I live on a very bumpy dirt road, so I usually keep mine on the softer side, around 4 front, 3 rear. Very nice to be able to change for off road too.


For info, several people that bought the "My Ride" wireless in-cab adjustable remote have had it fail in a very short period of time. Many times it was included free in a package deal, but sure not worth paying for it since it breaks in a short period.


Many places have these go on sale for "buy 3 get 1 free", sometimes includes free shipping too.

I suppose its a bit of compromising between the good cornering you get with the OEM and getting away from the crashing about on bad roads.

A few peole are running the OME shocks and like them. Not adjustable though but can probably be found locally on your side of the pond. Just another option.

Would it be a good idea to replace the coil springs as well? its done 50000 miles.

Only two reasons to replace coil springs:

1. lift.

2. originals are sagging.

If you aren't noticing any droop in your rear end, I wouldn't bother.
