    new roof basket option

I just recently installed this roof basket on my OEM rack:

    http://www.amazon.com/Highland-10419...dp/B007GMHTQ8/

It looks pretty good, is cheap, and doesn't cause a problem with my sunroof.

Width is about right for the Vx and for full size spare.

LOL, and that was with a ladder. Yes, need a compact winch tire lifter contraption.

Not too shabby. Like you said, cheap and not bad looking. Being a brand I never heard of, I would keep my eye on corrosion. Off brands usually are able to cut cost because of lack of $$ and time spent on welds and paint prep/quality.

    Still, good deal.

Installed a two pulley system in ceiling with an i-bolt in a big chunk of wood above ceiling.
Pulling the cord to raise the rack/tire/rim proved harder than expected (about 102 lbs), so we tied the cord to the superbumper on car to pull the cord to lift the rack and then lower it on truck. Worked great!
Tom the enginerd designed it for me. Thanks Tom!

I'm considering the Rolla and noticed that the dimensions are 52L x 40 1/2W x 6 Deep. It's my understand that some VXrs have purchased this one.

The one you just bought have a total diferent size in comparison...38 x 16.9 x 9.5 inches...Seems to me that the width is not correct in the website...Is it shorter because of the sunroof?

Not bad, looks very similar to the Rola basket I have but for half the price.

I have no clue how these companies can make more than a few dollars selling baskets this cheap. Cost of metal, bending the metal, welding, powder coating (assumed), packaging, shipping etc. I could build a similar looking product in my garage for $600

For a portable ladder, use this tire hanging step by Rhino:

    JMNY -

Thanks. I found it around $145 here with free shipping here:

Do you have a picture of it on the VX? I did a quick search and it seems that some modification may be required to install the basket on the VX racks? Could you please share your experience?

I also found your post, but cannot see the rack very well...

Here's a couple pics of the rola when I had it installed. I haven't really needed mine for extra cargo and decided it wasn't worth keeping it installed. It's a pretty big basket, little wide but still looks pretty good because it's low profile. I also used a Yakima cargo net that fit nicely.

I mounted it on the roof rails directly but it comes with brackets and should mount up to the rack without issue. JMNY can confirm this...
