That looks like the original wide body moonbuggy. It has a health turbo/intercooler u der the hood. From the price I am thinking it is.

yup that is the old original moon buggy VX. I remember back when I first got my VX I thought this actually looked kinda cool, but I see how it just ruins much of what makes the VX the VX. Very tacky in my opinion. If you are going to modify a vehicle, I think it should be done in a way that sticks closely to the original design, hence why a little more aggressive offroad tire fits the VX's original dual purpose of on road and off road capabilities. I mean I have 35" tires and I still hug corners better then any truck I have driven.

It is like a car that has been exhibited at the Tokyo Auto Salon.
Please keep in mind that it does not have an exhibition of each car.
    Car is already dismantling.

I'm not convinced that is the original Moonbuggy, based on this Google translation. Would have to look under the front to see if it has the turbo. And is this listing for the wheels only?

I have always strangely liked the Moonbuggy.

The widebody stance actually works for it IMO. Where it doesn't work.... the wheel and tire package with that design. Big sidewalls don't work on a low appearing stance. Hate to say it, because I hate them, but they need some giant wagon wheels on it. 22"+ with a low profile tire. That rim and tire package needs to sit flush withe the well lips to flush out the profile.

Plus, the suspension isn't exactly one you just lower. The Moonbuggy is stock height, yet, it has a widebody, low profile body kit.

In any case, I think it was a cool idea that wasn't ever executed 100%.

Pretty sure it is. The hitch, the color of the cladding and body, the exhaust, the wheels the tires, the removal of roof rails, everything that is done is exactly like the original moon buggy.

And I totally agree with Worm that the wheel and tire packaged kills the desired effect here. At least 20's with 285 wide tires is a minimum.

Maybe the original thought behind that setup was for rally-cross? It certainly has a similar look to a lot of vehicles these days that are set up for those types of events. Possibly just another area where the design of a particular VX was once again ahead of it's time?

I agree with CobraJet - I'm almost certain this isn't the original Moon Buggy, unless it's been further modified since the last pics surfaced.

Agree, but to reiterate, it simply seems incomplete to me. Looking at the design, it would seem the front cladding was designed to fit a small FMIC. As far as I recall, it had one, and it had a reversed turbo, but I never saw anywhere if they were even functional. Lemme see some dyno sheets, even a road test video.

Give me the kit and let me do it right. My VX is an urban mall crawler so potholes and small animals are my only climbing worry. My MOAB is the 3 speedbumps I crawl over in the parking lot outside of Starbucks. And I am sure my good friends at IAG would love to dig into the inner workings of my VX and make her rumble.

You mean, "widerbody stance", as VX already has a widebody

But...I like it! Did they ever actually offer those claddings for sale in Japan?
